Cyber crime is any crime committed over the internet. The most common types of cyber crimes are hacking, theft, cyber stalking, identity theft, malicious software, child soliciting and abuse. 

Hacking is when a criminal breaks into someone else’s computer to steal personal information or sensitive information. 

Theft occurs when a person violates copyrights and downloads music, movies, games and software illegally. 

Cyber stalking is when a person harasses a victim online through online messages and emails. Identity theft is when a criminal steals information from a victim’s bank account, credit cards, social security, debit card and other sensitive information to get money through the victim’s name. 

Malicious Software is a software or program used by criminals to gain access to a system to steal sensitive information or data or causing damage to software in the system. 

Child soliciting and abuse is when criminals solicit minors via chat rooms for the purpose of child pornography
